European Environmental Technologies Action Plan (ETAP)
The European Union has set for itself the goal of becoming the most competitive and dynamic knowledge-based economy in the world by 2010, this objective was set at the 2000 Lisbon Summit. To achieve this goal economic growth must be decoupled from negative environmental impacts and environmental technologies have an important role to play in this respect.
In January 2004 the Commission adopted an action plan ¿Environmental Technologies Action Plan (ETAP)- to improve the development and wider use of environmental technologies. ETAP contains eleven priority actions which include the development of technology platforms or the creation of environmental technologies verification networks.
