dc.description.abstractSamples of Pyroceram 9606 glass-ceramic were produced to serve as reference materials with certified thermal diffusivity (alpha) and thermal conductivity (lambda). Homogeneity was found sufficient for the intended use. Dispatch and storage conditions were judged non-critical. However, stability of the samples under repeated heating cycles to elevated temperatures needed to be investigated. An uncertainty contribution was determined based on a limited use of the CRM of 10 times heating up to 800 °C. The certified values were determined through an inter-laboratory exercise. Thermal diffusivity was determined using laser-flash and Xenon lamp methods. Thermal conductivity was measured using guarded hot plate apparatus and hot-wire/hot-strip methods. Certified values and associated uncertainties were assigned. The certified value is valid in a temperature to 1 000 °C. Its validity is not any longer valid when the sample has been heated up 10 times to 800 °C or more.en_GB
