The Network for Evaluation of Structural Components (NESC) has set up a project involving both utilities and R&D organisations and aimed at developing a consensus methodology for assessing thermal fatigue in piping components, with special attention at mixing tees in light water reactor systems. The paper describes the proposed procedure and the on-going verification work.
