Ambient Intelligence: The European way for a User Friendly Information Society
The presentation gave a short overview where AmI is coming from and identifies some of the major challenges and bottlenecks it is facing. It argues that the vision as such is quite will accepted in Europe and that now, time and energy need to go to developing and applying it. From that perspective, although people are presented as being at the core of the vision, AmI would benefit from a more substantial everyday life perspective that confronts users in their everyday lives with future visions and technologies. This is also entails setting up concrete applications areas relevant for Europe. It is time to mobilize decision makers and the public to start realizing the vision. Some of the key questions that this raises are identified and discussed.
