How to Improve Safety Using a Micro-Macro Ergonomic Approach

This paper focuses on the innovative micro-macro ergonomic approach used for the implementation and coordination of safety improvement action plans developed in the frame of a safety culture enhancement programme at a research reactor. The programme is a major step in supporting the Life Management Programme of the facility. An internal safety culture self-assessment, coordinated by the working group on safety culture, was developed in order to identify strengths and weaknesses of the organization and to define opportunities for improvements. In order to enhance safety culture and human factors an action plan based on the micro-macro ergonomic approach was developed leading to encouraging and motivating results.
