dc.description.abstractTo determine capture cross sections using C6D6 detectors, the total energy detection principle in combination with the Pulse Height Weighting Technique (PHWT) is very often applied. The quality of the data deduced from such measurements depends strongly on the response of the detection system used for the calculation of the weighting function. In addition, for nuclei with small capture-to-scattering ratios, i.e., light and neutron magic nuclei, the proper determination of the capture cross section also depends on the correction for the neutron sensitivity of the capture detector. We used the MCNP code to simulate both the gamma and neutron transport of the detection system and deduce the weighting functions and neutron sensitivity.en_GB
