Development and Characterization of Bio-indicators for Mediterranean Coastal Lagoons: Towards the Application of Specific Eexergy as an Integrated Indicator
In this thesis, the concept of ecological indicator is revised in the view of the implementation of the Water Framework Directive of the European Union to coastal systems (WFD, Directive 2000/60/EC). Exergy and specific exergy were applied to coastal systems and compared with other indicators and methodologies in order to test the validity of exergy as indicator of environmental health.
