Land Use Implications of the 2003 Reform of the Common Agricultural Policy in the European Union
The 2003 CAP reform poses a fundamental change to agricultural support in the EU. As also the influence of the member states on the implementation has been increased, it has to be analysed how land use pattern are to be changed. Here the focus will be on the linkages between the main aspects of the 2003 CAP reform as well as on landscape and biodiversity issues. Risks of abandonment and opportunities of extensification can be detected as the main results.
