The experimental activity carried out in the framework of the EC-funded research project Precast EC8 is presented in this paper. The project, spanning over three and a half years, aims at assessing the reliability of current EC8 approach, widely accepted for cast-in-place r/c structures, when applied to the design of precast structures, through both experimental and numerical investigation. The analysis of test results will allow a better insight to be gathered both on the response of such structures to seismic excitation, as furthermore influenced by the behaviour of connections, mainly with reference to their efficacy in guaranteeing diaphragm behaviour of the roof system. The most meaningful global and local data collected during the tests are discussed with reference to the open issues in the seismic behaviour of reinforced concrete precast one story buildings.
