The Reporting of Safety related Occurrences in Aviation Maintenance: an Effective Tool to Improve Air Transportation Safety
The importance of a deep knowledge of the circumstances of the occurrence of dangerous events threatening the air transportation system in order to prevent further analogous events is stressed. An effective data reporting system in the aviation maintenance domain, either mandatory or voluntary and complying with the EC
regulations, is discussed. A prototypical procedure, developed according to a bottom-up approach and making use of ADREP 2000 taxonomy, that could serve as guideline for the development of more complex and generic instruments for data collection and analysis, is described.
