Report of the First Inter-Laboratory Comparison Test Organised by the Community Reference Laboratory for Mycotoxins
A proficiency test was conducted with 26 European National Reference Laboratories (NRLs) for mycotoxins. Test materials were aflatoxin solutions in acetonitrile. Laboratories determined the content by liquid chromatography again their own standard by high-performance liquid-chromatography with fluorescence detection. The overall reproducibility values (RSDr) were 14.1%, 9.3%, 22.8% and 15.3% for Aflatoxin B1, B2, G1 and G2 respectively, reflecting the structure related sensibility of aflatoxins in solutions towards daylight and alkaline ambient. The precision figures reflect the variability of aflatoxin results that are solely related to currently applied calibration procedures.
