Next Generation Network Interconnections: Vulnerabilities and Key Security Issues
Deregulation resulted in many European countries having far more than a dozen of competing telecom providers. Between those providers, telecom traffic grew enormously. Highly reliable and secure connections between providers are needed for the proper functioning of the telecom infrastructure. Thirty interconnections vulnerabilities are highlighted in this paper. To countermeasure the vulnerabilities seven crucial action points for secure and dependable telecom interconnections in Europe are proposed and matter of fact arguments are given for each action point regarding associated vulnerabilities.
