Specialisation of Agri-food Trade of the Slovak and Czech Republics after the EU Accession
The paper deals with analysis of the Slovak and Czech agri-food trade specialisation
dynamics in the context of the EU enlargement in 2004. The results reveal a similar
development of agri-food trade of both countries by their trade partners/groupings, although
the dynamics level differed. In one-year span it was rather difficult for the countries to
improve position of comparatively disadvantageous commodities. However, once obtained
a high revealed comparative advantage, they were able to maintain it over the analysed
period. Moreover, the results point to a significant weakening of traditionally competitive
commodities on the CEEC markets after the EU accession.
