The INSPIRE Directive

INSPIRE, the infrastructure for spatial information in Europe, is a legal framework to be implemented by the European Union, designed to foster the availability and interoperability of data concerning the environment amongst existing and potential users and providers. One of its main vocations will be to support policy-making processes in this domain. It can be expected to emerge as a valuable tool for addressing the environmental challenges confronting the planet in coming decades.
