Supporting learner-centred learning opportunities and personal learning skills is important for the lifelong learning of everyone in the knowledge society, where older people make up one group of learners and mentors, interacting and integrating with others. ICT provides new opportunities for improving quality of life and supporting learning, but more relevant and accessible learning opportunities and more user-friendly tools need to be developed to accommodate the different needs of older people, so that a more inclusive information society is achieved. Research is needed to find best practices for providing learning in an ageing society and it is important to involve older people themselves in this work as learners, teachers and advisors.
