In response to the ever growing testing needs in Europe due to the constantly increasing number of GM events commercialised in various parts of the world, a new approach for the detection of GMOs was developed. The system, based on real-time PCR technology, consists of 96-well pre-spotted plates in which the simultaneous identification of 39 GM events is performed by the use of event-specific primers and probe combinations.
