Behaviour of the Nozzle Corner Region during the First Phase of the Fatigue Test on Scaled Models of Pressure Vessels (JRC Vessel A)
THE WORK DEALS WITH THE STRESS AND FRACTURE MECHANICS ANALYSIS, AS APPLIED FOR THE SAFETY AND RELIABILITY ASSESSMENT OF THE JRC-ISPRA 1/5 SCALE PWR PRESSURE VESSEL. BEHAVIOUR OF THE NOZZLE CORNER REGION DURING PHASE I OF FATIGUE TEST, HAS BEEN EXAMINED. THE APPROACH TO THE PROBLEM PRESENTED AND ADOPTED IN THE WORK IS BASED ON THE FINITE ELEMENT, THREE DIMENSIONAL NON-LINEAR STRESS ANALYSIS, THE RESULTS OF WHICH ARE USED FOR THE DETERMINATION OF THE RELEVANT FRACTURE MECHANICS PARAMETERS, STRAIN ENERGY RELEASE RATE, J INTEGRAL, STRESS INTENSITY FACTOR, PROBABILISTIC FATIGUE CRACK GROWTH RATE. THE EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS OBTAINED AND THOSE FROM THE LITERATURE, CONFIRM THE OBTAINED ANALYTICAL ONES.
