For more than 50 years, the "Karlsruhe Nuclide Chart" has provided the nuclear science community with a powerful tool for structured and accurate information on the radioactive decay properties of nuclides. Through the successive editions, the chart has evolved to reflect scientific progress and breakthroughs in this field. The current 7th edition from 2006 provides a synthesis of more than a half-century of scientific investigation. An important characteristic of the Chart is its great didactic value in education and training in the nuclear sciences.
There are two essential ingredients which have established the "Karlsruhe Nuclide Chart" as an international reference standard in nuclear science: the choice of data and its visualization.
