The Future Demand of Spectrum
Radio spectrum is already the base for the provision of telecommunication services, television and radio broadcasting, transport, scientific research, an increasing number of domestic and industrial applications, and, last but not least, emergency and security systems. But radio spectrum will be even more relevant in the near future. Two of the main major next evolutions in the information and communications technology industries, next generation networks ¿ mobile Internet, and Internet of the future ¿ wireless sensors and networks, count on new uses of spectrum to succeed. This future demand of spectrum, in turn, implies increasing the (technical, economic and social) efficiency of current use of spectrum and, as a consequence, reviewing the spectrum management framework
