PMP Compliant Dilution System for On-Board Measurements
In this report the first on-board dilution system that complies with the PMP (Particle Measurement Programme) and the particle number legislation requirements is presented. The concept of the dilution system is initially investigated both experimentally and theoretically. Then the complete on-board system is described, calibrated and compared with other systems at the full dilution tunnel (CVS) and at the tailpipe of light duty vehicles and heavy duty engines. The results showed that the system shows excellent agreement with well established systems and can be used for onboard measurements. Issues that could affect the results like pressure and temperature variations at the inlet of the system are also discussed.
