Measurement of Soil Susceptibility
Measurement of the soil magnetic susceptibility and its frequency and amplitude dependence are important for the development of improved metal detectors for use in demining and UXO clearance. In this work, measurements using an HP 4284 spectrum analyzer, a Bartington MS2 susceptibility meter and a Signal Recovery SR7265 lock-in amplifier are reported for two samples held at the JRC. The results are compared with each other and with theoretical models.
