Trade-Off Between EU Biomass Supplies for Biofuels and Bioenergy Targets
The allocation of EU biomass resources between contributing to biofuel for transport and to bioelectricity targets depends on their availability and their relative costs. Most analyses of biomass resources did not consider incremental cost curves. By doing so, the present paper manages to show realistic policy trade-offs which are very relevant to formulate cost-effective policy. Further research is needed to analyse the sensitivity of the results to indirect land use changes, international trade effects.
