Use of MCCAD for the Generation of MCNP Models in Fusion Neutronics
The successful use of the McCad interface program for the conversion of CAD (CATIA) geometry data into MCNP 3D models is demonstrated. McCad was first tested on the example of an octant of the JET fusion device and then thoroughly benchmarked against other comparable approaches for a full size 40° torus sector of ITER. Further applications to ITER included the generation of different design versions of an ECRH launcher that were integrated into the ITER upper port. In the frame of the recent European DEMO Conceptual Study, McCad formed the essential element for the generation of the DEMO reactor models for the neutronics analyses. The wide range of applications and the obtained results confirm McCad¿s maturity for routine applications to nuclear design analyses of fusion reactors.
