Nanostructured Materials For Advanced Technological Applications: a Brief Introduction
In this contribution a short introduction to nanostructured materials for advanced technological applications is presented. A major aim is to
demonstrate, on the one hand, the diversity of approaches, methods, techniques and solutions, which are used currently worldwide - but also by the authors of the contributions collected in this book - in the field of nanostructured materials, but also that, on the other hand, these diverse topics are based on the same principles, face similar problems, and bear similar prospects for future applications. For this reason, frequent reference is made to the contributions to this book. Some examples to illustrate current topics, advances and problems are taken from the recent work of the present home institute of the author, the NanoBioTech group of the IHCP at the JRC.
