Thermal Conductivity of Fresh and Irradiated MOX Fuel: Influence of Microstructure
This study concerns the effect of the plutonium content and microstructure on the thermal conductivity of fresh and irradiated MOX fuels. Homogeneous and heterogeneous fuels are considered, with various levels of heterogeneity. The results show that, for a given average
plutonium content, the effect of the microstructure is negligible when realistic microstructures are considered, both for fresh and irradiated fuels.
