SUCH AN ANALYTIC DESCRIPTION OF THE DISPLCAMENT FIELD AVOIDS ANY DISCRETIZATION OF THE BASIC EQUATIONS AND IS THEREFORE SUITABLE FOR THE VALIDATION OF NUMERICAL PROCEDURES DEVELOPED TO DESCRIBE ELASTIC WAVE PROPAGATION.
