Developmental Neurotoxicity Testing: Recommendations for Developing Alternative Test Methods for Screening and Prioritization of Chemicals for Developmental Neurotoxicity
This document provides a series of recommendations for developing alternative testing methods for screening chemicals for potential developmental neurotoxicity. These recommendations provide a framework for developing the data needed to establish ¿proof of principle¿ that a specific test method will improve efficiency in terms of time and expense. The end goal is to develop test methods that are capable of screening large numbers of chemicals. There are two main intents of this document. First, this document was intended to stimulate and focus discussions of alternative testing methods and models for Developmental Neurotoxicity Testing (DNT) at the TestSmart DNT II workshop (ref). This discussion was critical to the success of the meeting. The second intent was to gain feedback from all attendees on the draft recommendations. This feedback was critical feedback in improving this document. Indeed, feedback from all stakeholders will continue to be critical for the development and use of alternative methods for DNT.
