|Abstract:||A defining characteristic of the whole smart grid ecosystem will be the possibility to differentiate every single unit of supplied electricity (in terms of energy service, generation source, time of delivery etc.) and to segment consumers according to energy profiles. In this paper, a systemic approach will be used to investigate this fundamental change of perspective in two key areas of the turbulent and dispersed smart grid landscape: the electric vehicle and the smart meter ecosystems. The analysis is aimed at establishing technical and economic synergies that may improve the business cases of different smart grid technologies through systemic effects. In this analysis, an EU (European Union) perspective will be primarily considered.|
