Strategic Energy Technologies Information System: SETIS: Towards a Low-Carbon Future
Europe, like the rest of the world, faces huge energy and climate change challenges. Currently the EU depends on fossil fuels for 80% of its energy. This requires a complete reinvention of our energy system with low-carbon technology as the key enabler. The EU responded to the requirement for energy technology innovation through the establishment of the European Strategic Energy Technology Plan (SET -Plan). Effective governance depends not only on the institutional but also on the availability of timely and reliable information. The SET-Plan put in place a dedicated system, the Set-Plan Information System (SETIS), with the goal of supporting planning, monitoring and assessment within the SET-Plan.
