Monitoring Refugee/IDP Camps to Support International Relief Action
The book chapters deals with the use of geo-spatial information in support of refugee/IDP camp management. Using the case study of three camps in Darfur (Sudan), the chapter describes and compares different methods for estimation of refugee/IDP populations based on enumeration of dwellings in very-high spatial resolution satellite images. In addition, an example for an environmental impact assessment based on satellite remote sensing time series is given.
