Improving web mapping with generalisation
The usage and value of web spatial data could be improved with the use of spatial data transformation methods, especially automated generalisation techniques. This article analyses why automated generalisation is not used in the web of spatial data and presents a some solutions to plug generalisation on the web. A new architecture for spatial data infrastructures semantically enhanced with generalisation techniques is proposed.
