The study of maintenance related events reported to the IAEA/OECD/NEA Incident Reporting System database between January 20006 and September 2008 have been conducted by the European Clearinghouse on Nuclear Power Plant Operational Experience Feedback. 60 reports among the 211 reports were identified as maintenance related by using the guide words and the search tool of the IRS database, and the information available in the reports. The causes of maintenance related events and their impact on nuclear safety were analysed. Particular attention was focused on the impact of external staff on event occurrence, and the availability and use of operational experience feedback. This paper presents the main insights arising from the detailed analysis. Lessons learned and recommendations regarding NPP maintenance, and the main conclusions derived from the analysis are introduced.
