Impact of Pseudolite Signals on Non Participating GNSS Receivers
Pseudolites or pseudo-satellites are an emerging technology with the potential of bridging the gap between outdoor and indoor navigation. Despite the great potential of this technology, problems of interference with existing satellite navigation services can arise.
In this paper, the impact of pseudolite signals on nonparticipating Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receivers is analyzed. A composite model able to predict the loss caused by pseudolites is derived and supported by measurements performed on different GNSS receivers. The analysis provides insight on the different mechanisms that lead to receiver losses and although specific focus is given to pulsed pseudolite signals, the analysis is general and can be directly applied to continuous and frequency shifted signals.
