We have developed an integrated model that couples a fate model with a cell growth model and a toxic effect model to analyze the dynamics of cell populations when subject to a toxicant in cell-based assays experiments. The model has been used to analyze A549 cytotoxicity assays by simulating the population dynamics and comparing with experimental data. This approach opens a new way of analyzing in vitro experiments and offers the possibility of extrapolating the values obtained to calculate in vivo human toxicology thresholds.
