Mobile identification: from functional requirements, to testing for interoperability and security

cover
The present document provides an analysis of the technical, functional and interoperability requirements for a generic mobile identification solution. The report starts from the findings and discussions held so far in the context of the e-MOBIDIG working group, defines a high-level abstract architecture for a mobile identification device, identifying its main components. It then analyses available standards, conformity tests for each of the components with a particular view to security and interoperability. Existing guidelines and recommendations from international organisations are also taken into account in the analysis and discussions. From the analysis of the experiences and discussions in the e-MOBIDIG working group, it emerges that use cases and contexts are different and there is no "ideal solution" which fits all cases. At the same time, the market offers already numerous solutions which are able to accommodate the numerous scenarios that are conceivable in the context of identification and authentication using a mobile setting.
