The topics of the papers that compose the special issue are the following: (1) introduction to MSP in the context of the EU Integrated Maritime Policy, (2) objective-based MSP, (3) place-based management for MSP, (4) lessons learned on zoning for MSP, (5) cross-border issues of MSP, (6) coherence between MSP and terrestrial planning, (7) MSP monitoring and evaluation, (8) governance for adaptive MSP.
