POC – Ein neuer Parameter zur Konkretisierung des Schadstoffverlagerungsverbots nach § 3 (2) der Abwasserverordnung [POC – A new parameter for the implementation of the ban on pollutant transfer according to § 3 (2) of the German Waste Water Ordinance]
The POC is a new sum parameter for the determination of purgeable organic carbon in water samples. The POC is a measure for the concentration of organic compounds that have the potential to be transferred from the aqueous to the gaseous phase. The POC method was published in August 2011 as German standard DIN 38409 – 46. By using this standard, the ban on pollutant transfer as stipulated in § 3 (2) of the German Waste Water Ordinance could be implemented. The article describes the analytical method and aspects that were taken into account during standardisation as well as laboratory results on standard and real waste water samples.
