dc.description.abstractTHE NET DESIGN IS CONCEIVED WITH REMOVABLE INTERNAL COMPONENTS BOTH FOR LIFETIME REASONS AND DIFFERENT MATERIALS TESTING; THE INTERNALS REMOVAL CAN BE DONE ONLY IF THE COOLANT AND BREEDER PIPING SYSTEM CAN BE REMOTELY CONNECTED AND DISCONNECTED FROM THE PERMANENT CIRCUITS. A NEW FLANGE PROPOSAL IS CONCEIVED TO BE ASSEMBLED IN TWO UNITS SYSTEM WORKING AS PRESSURE BOUNDARY BY MEANS OF TWO FLEXIBLE PARTS DIRECTLY IN CONTACT WITH EACH OTHER WITHOUT AN O-RING. THE FLANGE GEOMETRY IS DESIGNED TO OBTAIN A PRESSURE BOUNDARY EFFICIENCY PROPORTIONAL TO THE PRESSURE ITSELF. AT PRESENT, THE FLANGE HAS BEEN OPTIMIZED FOR MMATERIALS AND PIPING SYSTEMS OF INTEREST FOR THE NET REACTOR. THE FLANGE PROPOSAL IS COVERED BY A PATENT OF THE CEC.en_GB
