Agriculture and Land Reform in Albania

The land reforms implemented in Albania during the last century were decisive in stimulating the distribution of land rights among Albanian farmers and other land holders (state, religious institutions, large land holders), shaping the structure of farms and influencing on the socio-economics of agricultural society. There has always been a need for better land reforms in Albania. However, the reforms have always been partially implemented, attempted under short time constraints and under strong political regime changes. The aim of this chapter is to analyse the effects of Albanian land reforms, on the land and production structure as well as on the albanian society.
