Measurements of fission mass yields and neutron multiplicity - Rendements de fission en masse et multiplicité neutronique
Fission fragment mass yields and prompt neutron multiplicities are key input parameter into nuclear model codes.
This information is well known only for the major isotopes 235U and 239Pu at thermal incident neutron energy. The behaviour as a function of incident neutron energy, especially above 20 MeV is far from known and only a couple of experiments exist. This has triggered the present measurement campaign to investigate both the behaviour of fission fragment mass yields and prompt neutron multiplicities as a function of incident neutron energy at LANSCE.
