|Abstract:||As the benefits of extending the safe operating life of nuclear power plants has become more evident, so has the need to increase international cooperation in reactor aging management research. This paper describes how individuals and organizations from Asia, Europe, and North America teamed to create the International Forum for Reactor Aging Management (IFRAM). The mission of IFRAM is to facilitate the appropriate exchange of information among those parties and organizations around the world that are presently, or are planning to, address issues of nuclear power plant (NPP) systems, structures and components aging management. The main purpose of this paper is to describe the steps to success in creating IFRAM. The desired attributes, charter, and operational methods of IFRAM are described and the key contributors for creating IFRAM are identified.|
