Alpha emitting radiometals are promising tools for cancer treatment. One of them is 223Ra. Its mother nuclide, 227Th (half-life of 18.7 days), can be obtained from 227Ac/227Th generator produced via 226Ra(n,γ)227Ra/227Ac reactions using nuclear reactor. This fact puts, however, high requirements on radiation stability of such a generator. Aim of this study was to develop alternative method for direct cyclotron production of 227Th via 226Ra(α,3n) reaction.
