From a wider perspective of a territory the annual supply and use tables of all Member States of the European Union can also be seen as a set of regional inputoutput tables for the European Union. This valuable database can be used to compile aggregate input-output tables for the European Union. These data also offer new opportunities for the evaluation of regional policies in various areas of the EU. For the European regional policy it is a prime objective to support regions whose development is lagging behind. It is a clear policy of the European
Commission to work towards the regional integration of Europe and its sustainable development. The evaluation of GDP per capita and genuine savings ratios for the Member States clearly indicates that there is still a long way to go.
