Spatial data infrastructures
Spatial Data infrastructures are Internet based facilities to search, find, access, and share location-specific information and data. Almost every country in the world has embarked in developing such infrastructures over the last 20 years to support improved environmental management, risk assessment, service delivery, and many other applications in the public and privates sectors. The components and key challenges if building a spatial data infrastructure are discussed using an example from Europe.
