Piracy Incidents in the Gulf of Guinea JRC Monthly Report – December 2013
This monthly report contains the latest information on piracy incidents in the Gulf of Guinea region (December 2013).
The term “piracy” in this report also covers acts of armed robbery at sea. The term “incidents” in this report always refers to reported incidents.
At present, the piracy incident data are provided to the JRC by the International Chamber of Commerce - International Maritime Bureau (ICC-IMB) on a monthly basis. Occasionally the piracy incident data within the report are completed with data from other sources.
The report is one way to share information on piracy incidents in the Gulf of Guinea region and aims to contribute to regional maritime capacity building.
The report is an output of the Pilot Project on Piracy, Maritime Awareness and Risks – Gulf of Guinea, carried out by the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission on behalf of EuropeAid. This Monthly report is the last monthly report produced by JRC as the project ended in December 2013.
