Abstract: The theme of the symposium is: LCA in promoting eco-innovation and sustainability. The EU FP7 HarWin project (Harvesting solar energy with multifunctional glass-polymer windows) offers the opportunity of developing and testing a specific “Life Cycle Environmental Assessment (LCEA) method” for addressing the environmental burden associated to windows at the R&D stage. Moreover a simplified "Life Cycle Enviromental Assessment (LCEA) tool" streamlined to HarWin windows, allows non LCA experts (i.e. partners of the consortium) to take R&D decisions not only on technical and functional grounds but also on environmental grounds.
