Building a hydrogen infrastructure in the EU
This chapter describes the status and the outlook for the deployment of a hydrogen infrastructure in the European Union. It covers infrastructure for the use of hydrogen as a fuel and as an energy storage medium. The chapter briefly reviews the technology status and costs of technologies for hydrogen production, distribution, storage and reviews ongoing and planned EU initiatives, paying particular attention to a hydrogen refuelling infrastructure for road transport. It closes by describing the approaches and instruments deployed by the EU for promoting and contributing to financing of the establishment of hydrogen infrastructures.
