The last years set a record in the number of natural disasters accompanied by major damage to industrial facilities and other infrastructures. Unfortunately, disaster risk reduction frameworks do not fully address technological hazards in general, and Natech hazards in particular. This chapter gives an overview of the state of play in Natech risk reduction in the EU but also globally, it highlights existing gaps in Natech risk reduction, and makes recommendations on how to close these gaps.
