The Commission may consult the group on any matter relating to marine and fisheries biology, fishing gear technology, fisheries economics, fisheries governance, ecosystem effects of fisheries, aquaculture or similar disciplines. This report identifies fisheries in North Western Waters in which high risk choke stocks are caught and in which of these fisheries improving selectivity is appropriate on the basis that discard rates of these stocks are high. It also identifies appropriate selective gears that could be deployed in these fisheries to reduce the choke risk.
