Part 1: The Basics
Amongst all migrants, children form a particularly vulnerable group that need special attention. The Knowledge Centre on Migration and Demography (KCMD), in its mission to support the European Commission’s overall response to the opportunities and challenges related to migration, has developed a comprehensive collection of data and related information on migration in general, and in particular on migrant children.
The first report on this subject, called “The Basics”, provides an overview about the current content of the KCMD repository on data and knowledge. As such, the report does not try to replicate information and data that has already been well published by others (e.g. EUROSTAT, UNHCR, UNICEF or the European Migration Network). It concentrates on guidance through the wealth of available information while focussing on aspects that have been less intensively elaborated.
